COMMON SENSE: The ‘Paine’ful Truth
When things are amiss and the official explanation makes little sense it is reasonable to develop alternative conclusions that better fit the facts.
The Second Amendment is clear: âThe right to a well regulated militia, being necessary to a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.â Thomas Jefferson clarified the Framersâ intentions when he wrote; âThe strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.â Jefferson makes no mention of sport shooting or hunting rights.
The recent events in Sandy Hook and the subsequent legislation sponsored by Senator Diane Feinstein, in the least, warrant free persons of good character to have grave reservation.
There have been mass murders before but never followed by an assault on our Bill of Rights. There are, minimally, 65 million licensed gun owners in the United States yet the drug induced crimes of two mentally unstable persons, James Holmes and Adam Lanza are now viewed by statists in Congress as reason to legislate away one of our God-given rights. When drunk driving emerged in the national consciousness the response was to punish the behavior and not to outlaw cars.
What fuels the departure from such rational response in this case? One must at least consider the motivation to be the disarmament of the American people. Hitler, Mao, Castro, Stalin, et al all seized the guns of their citizenry before finalizing the iron grip of government. Is that happening here? For now, that remains unanswerable. Could it be happening here? That is worth exploring.
Here is what we do know. In the aftermath of 9/11 the Patriot Act was passed. It infringed on certain Constitutional protections, reportedly, for the purpose of protecting the people. Since then the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) was overwhelmingly passed by Congress and signed into law by President Obama. The NDAA has many troubling provisions that infringe on at least six of our protections guaranteed by our Bill of Rights including; the right of the president to suspend Habeas Corpus for any American he personally determines to be a terrorist and, the construction and staffing of internment camps. Such an overt assault on our Bill of Rights should leave every American, regardless of political stripe, very concerned.
In light of Janet Napolitanoâs declaration that our returning war heroes (who have sworn the oath of fidelity to the Constitution) should be observed as potential terrorist threats and, coupled with her steadfast refusal to identify any other group (ethnic, or otherwise) for such designation who are these internment camps being prepared for?
Just as troubling is the purchase of 1.6 billion rounds of hollow point bullets by Homeland Security.  According to the Geneva Convention hollow points are illegal for use in international conflict. They are more expensive than full metal jacket bullets and, therefore, not suitable for the practice range. Itâs not unreasonable to ask, âwho are these intended to be used on?â
The purchase of 30,000 drones to âobserveâ Americans and the installation of surveillance cameras on virtually every traffic light suggests the American people are no longer to be trusted. Why would an open government of service to the people have such fear of ordinary Americans?
The stripping from us of our Constitutional protections by elected officials is tyranny as assuredly as it would be if done by foreign dictate. Our Framers anticipated this when they included the phrase, âI do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;âŚâ in the oath of office that they swear to uphold.
Could the United States government actually have the temerity to use the events in Sandy Hook to neuter the Second Amendment?  Worse to consider, could our government actually been an active player in this slaughter of innocent children? This is difficult to contemplate but it is well documented that our government has participated in heinous acts throughout our history. Try rationalizing these actions against other innocent Americans by our government that are not in dispute: internment of Japanese Americans in WWII, the murder of Martin Luther King, exposing our uniformed personnel to mustard gas to gage response and the purposeful infliction of syphilis on 400 Tuskegee blacks. The use of false flags to justify military action by our government is, likewise, well documented and inevitably results in the death of innocents.
The investigation of the Sandy Hook massacre is ongoing yet the move to confiscate guns in violation of the Second Amendment was in full swing within 24 hours. Understanding the âfog of warâ atmosphere that surrounded Sandy Hook as the events of that tragic day unfolded, it is still puzzling how the official story squares so little with the initial eyewitness accounts and the first media reports that came from the school grounds.
When the official accounting is not supported by the facts it is rightful, not disrespectful, to ask more questions.
